A food to discover: tempeh!

This is the time of the year to barbecue and grill. Are you looking for an alternative to the famous T-Bone and beef hamburger rich in saturated fat ?! Try the tempeh!

A cousin of tofu, it has a slightly more spicy taste that evokes aromas of hazelnut and mushroom, and a less spongy texture. It is produced with yellow soybeans seeded with a mushroom, then fermented, which condenses the beans to form a compact block, like a firm cheese. Thanks to the presence of enzymes during fermentation, this process improves the bioavailability of micronutrients as well as the digestibility of proteins. It is therefore a great food to try as a replacement for meat, to complement your salads, sandwiches, wraps, burger and Asian stir-fry.
